[edit] Releases
You will need to be in Japanese locale to run the game correctly. For the best display results, you will also need to have the MS Gothic font installed (other monospace Japanese fonts that have been tested didn't look very good).
The installers may need to be run as administrator depending on where the game was installed and which OS you are on - particularly in the case of the default install location into Program Files on Windows Vista or Windows 7 due to UAC. If this is the case, selecting "Start Menu Shortcuts" will create the shortcuts for the admin, which is probably not what you want. Instead, just run the installer a second time as standard user and select only "Start Menu Shortcuts" - this will put them in the right place.
Finally, if you notice any errors (whether they'd be typographic, grammatical, or technical ones), we'd greatly appreciate it if you report then on our error reports page.
Note If after applying the voice patch, you don't hear any voices, try re-downloading it using the link above. The voice patch installer was updated since the initial release due to a bug in the install script.
[edit] Summary
Takuya Arima is a young student whose father, a historian who has conducted various researches, disappeared recently. During a summer vacation Takuya receives a peculiar package from his missing father, along with a letter containing information about the existence of various parallel worlds. At first Takuya doesn't take it seriously, but soon he realizes that he possesses a device that allows him to travel to alternate dimensions. Is his father alive, after all? If so, where is he?
[edit] Updates
26/07/2010 This week's progress was at the speed of light. Only 30% left to translate. --Izmosmolnar 16:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
17/07/2010 And two more milestones have been reached today, because we went over the 60% mark in translation, and more importantly, because Phar finished the monumental task of completing all the 170 files which makes up Mio's route! Thus we only have one and a half of the normal routes left (Kaori's route can't be called a full route, since it's like 60/70% the same byte by byte as Kanna's). Due to this structure, we'll attempt to handle those two routes together next. Unfortunately editing has been at standstill for a good while, so I'll have to look into trying to gather a new slave... lucky soul, who'll have the opportunity to join us in the effort. Thanks for your support. --Izmosmolnar 20:26, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
05/06/2010 The translation is over the 50% point. Things started to slow down a bit as Dan has IRL issues, and because we need more people to motivate Phar :) . Also, Kingshriek has hacked proportional support into the engine, so the text will be displayed differently than it was in the prologue patch. --Izmosmolnar 14:03, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
13/03/2010 And as of today Phar has translated Ayumi's route too in its entirety. Next target is going to be the longest one, Mio's route. In the meanwhile, the editing phase for Mitsuki's route is also coming along nicely, and we'll be done in a few days. --Izmosmolnar 15:23, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
22/02/2010 Passed the 40% milestone. --Izmosmolnar 23:22, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
20/01/2010 Minor update indicating that the translation progress is over 30%. --Izmosmolnar 04:07, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
31/12/2009 Mitsuki's route is entirely translated, thanks to Phar who quickly managed to finish the translation, about 6 hours before 2010 arrives. Great job! He'll be moving onto Ayumi's route next.
As we indicated earlier, there aren't going to be public patches for the individual main routes, as we'd like to release the main routes altogether once they are entirely done. Happy New Year once again. --Izmosmolnar 17:23, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

| Language | Link | Score | Version | Quote |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| en | Ixrec's review | 10/10 | “Many awesome games give you a sense of epic scale, making you feel like you actually did just save an entire planet from catastrophes millenia in the making. On the other hand, YU-NO will make you feel the size and scope of each and every extant universe from the beginning of time to unforseeable futures. Each and every branch really did feel like a real alternate retelling of a real event, and not just a different set of tricks the author came up with to make everyone show up in time for the finale. On top of that, the actual subplots in each route are awesome all on their own (contrast with E17), partly since the metaplot justifies copious foreshadowing, twists and character development.” | |
| en | TakaJun's review | 9/10 | PC98 | “Even though this is an old game, it’s still a masterpiece. It’s hard to recommend to people since it’s so old, but I would still recommend people to play this game if they do not mind old games and are even slightly interested.” |
| en | Short review by an Anonymous | “Honestly before playing this I thought it was only overrated, no way an eroge that is so fucking old (made in 96) could be that awesome. I was wrong, it's really that great, no eroge I played before come even close to the level of epic story (in the real sense of the word) that this game offers. It's a really ambitious story with a huge scope. Anyways it's awesome, people who are proficient in Japanese and who didn't play it yet because it's old or some other reasons should try it asap.” | ||
| en | RPGFan review by WooJin Lee | 97/100 | Saturn | “As a whole, I feel this game to be THE best Graphical Adventure game ever, which from me (I play tons of these games) is a huge compliment. In fact, I feel saddened by the fact that the scenario designer that made this (I forget the name) isn't working on enough games!” |
| en | Review by Mista Lijing on GameFAQs | 10/10 | Saturn | “The final segment of the game is just mind-blowing - I cannot think of a more rewarding ending to a more demanding game. ” |
| en | Short review by JMason on GameFAQs | 10/10 | Saturn | “Wow what can I say, this game just blew me away. A real class act. ” |
