[edit] Question Regarding C&Ds
I understand that Japanese IP addresses are blocked from this site, right? Even with the block in place, the VN community seems to be getting some more C&D requests from Japanese companies, as evidenced by the recent C&Ds of Dote and Air by Key/Visualarts. Does TLwiki intend to continue complying with any C&Ds that may make their way to you guys despite the block, or does the IP block mean that you guys aren't going to respond altogether? If it's the latter, the Kanon English patch completed by Non-Directional Translations could use some protection by having it hosted on this site in case if NDT gets C&D'd. 75.75.102.200 02:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Thumbnail Problems 'n stuff
All of the thumbnail creation problems and those mentioned here will be fixed when Mediawiki 1.16 is released and out of beta. Stay classy, San Diego. --TinFoil 14:46, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thumbnails can now be viewed properly. --TinFoil 03:08, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Japanese IPs actually blocked now
It required installing Apache and then jumping through a bunch of other hoops, but I have gotten the JP IP block working. Anyone in Japan who attempts to view the site will be redirected to Google instead. Have a nice day. Moogy (talk) 20:27, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Regarding minori and takedowns
First, if anyone from minori is reading this, I would like to apologize for the childish behavior of some of the other users in response to their request. However, I would also like to state that blanking a page without prior notice is not the proper way to express your desire for a takedown.
I would quite prefer it if companies would simply notify me personally via email. Perhaps I'll add a disclaimer to the main page stating as such.
I have removed administration abilities from the majority of users since I do not wish for anyone except myself to be construed as acting in the capacity of the official face of TLWiki.
That's all I wanted to say. Hopefully most companies will be more understanding...
Oh yeah, thanks to the one guy who was actually polite enough to respond to minori in Japanese. Heh. Moogy (talk) 22:33, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Please hold onto your seats while I attempt to compile a step-by-step explanation of all we've got and think here. I will speak on behalf of the entire TLWiki as a reinstated administrator. --TinFoil 00:23, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

On behalf of Moogy and the rest of the TLWiki administration, here I am to explain what happened as "someone with a cooler head on [his] shoulders." Moogy woke up to the drama, saw the article on novelnews (which is a great summary btw), took a look at the Recent Changes page, reverse-DNS'd the poster's IP address (218.219.158.186), and found out that the IP resolved to minori.ph. That's when he finally says, "well shit." But why say, "well shit"? We have a policy of respecting the original authors' requests both out of respect and courtesy: ironically, the TLWiki is part of the same domain as the prevalent lolipower and Amaterasu; bothering the generous dovac with the legal issues of a takedown notice is pure courtesy. Anyway. This all assumes that the claim _did_ come from the minori offices. And before you speculate, server rooms are sometimes in the same facility as the officespace. IP spoofing, not so good. Virus that proxies through the server room from a raging nativist NEET's house, maybe. I know not many of you doubt the source, but I need to get you all on the same page. Now about that demand - most of you know that the TLWiki hosted no actual content except for multiple Add-On Disc's script files. This is what most likely pertains to their takedown request, although they might be overestimating our involvement as much as judges misunderstand Bittorrent trackers. Although we do agree that posting a copyright claim on Talk Pages isn't exactly professional-looking, it nevertheless is valid. And now for some news: the eden* project's email itself has recieved a more professional and official-looking takedown message. Please, PLEASE, do not email minori or send them hate mail. If you must, do it in fluent Japanese and not in English. I will now, as with most of my tripfagged posts on /jp/, answer questions. |

Why should'nt we send them hate mails? And why in fluent Japanese(tm)?
Dozens of hate mails in all languages should be sent to them. Why shouldn't they know how we feel? Any language is fine, they doesn't seems to be bothered to write in English. Also In Moogy's place I would have just blocked their IPs. "Take a hair of the dog that bit you." And for those of the stuff who lives in Japan it should be possible to add exceptions.
- Make a new wiki and show off your bad-assery?--Novice Translator X 16:31, 27 April 2010 (UTC)
- We already have place where translations is going. Not a wiki though. It's not showing off, I just hope minori will read this. I'd like them to know that they only encouraging people to translate and spread their stuff. If there was not much motivation to work on their novels, now we feel full of energy.
[edit] Regarding Nitro+ translations
As you may know, we have removed some Nitro+ translations from the site. This was done because we are currently working to help JAST USA out with their localizations of Nitro+ games. If all goes well, we should be able to help them expedite their localization process.
See this post for more details on the subject. Moogy (talk) 23:27, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] MediaWiki updated to 1.15.0
As usual, lemme know if anything is amiss.
Parser_OldPP has been disabled entirely, so if you were using it, I suggest not using it. Moogy (talk) 03:01, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] General Guidelines for URL Shorteners
Use tinypic or tinyurl only, please. Everything else is blocked to impede spammers. Moogy (talk) 19:47, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] One Million Hits
Refer to Special:Statistics.
Yeah. Not too important, but, considering it's the same day that Saya was released, I think it's a cool milestone. Moogy (talk) 23:08, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Updated to MediaWiki 1.13.1
Yep. If anything is fucked up, please let me know. Moogy (talk) 21:51, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Oops
Seems I missed the anniversary of TLWiki. It was started on 6/29/07. We've grown quite a bit since then, eh? Moogy (talk) 12:30, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] New projects
Well, it seems me and other users of this wiki have been too lazy busy to update this page, while two a whopping THREE new projects have appeared on TLWiki:
- Cartagra: a crime fiction set sometime in post-war Japan.
- Chaos;Head: gore, psychology, and science fiction (wikipedia.org)
- Corpse Party: as you might have guessed, it's about joyful and happy things.
In addition, it seems the Demonbane project is advancing smoothly, since it has become the most advanced project hosted here (47.94% TL). Hey, won't somebody pick Himawari no shoujo? Conversely, AIR seems to have stalled (again)(maybe not).
The following projects were delisted from the sidebar due to lack of activity:
RT 22:43, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- I was thinking about delisting AIR, too, but that might ensure that no one ever works on it again... Moogy (talk) 23:53, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Added Sharin no Kuni, Himawari no Shoujo to the sidebar; apparently, Chewy (天使のいない12月, 12Riven ―the Ψcliminal of integral― demo) looks interested by the project. A few

[edit] Downtime and Rollback
Thanks to Dreamhost shutting down my old account, TLWiki was down for 2 days. Furthermore, thanks to Dreamhost's refusal to allow me access to backups, the wiki has been rolled back to its state as of 3/25/08. If you made any changes since that date, I humbly request that you resubmit them. Many images will also need to be reuploaded. I sincerely, sincerely apologize for this and will do my best to make sure this does not happen again; special thanks to imouto.org for hosting. Moogy (talk) 20:32, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Please reinstall SpamBlacklist; I investigated the issue with DPL2; it is confirmed to be broken as of MediaWiki 1.12 RC1 when using sub-templates, I also fixed a bug I introduced on my own while modding the script.

[edit] A tiny and not-so-important update on Symphonic Rain progress
Well, first and foremost, I'd like to give a huge thanks to Phar, who's been applying a huge boost since he's started contributing to the Symphonic Rain project and brought the progress tracker into the two-digit realm.
Some time in the past, a list of candidate fonts for the English localization was previously posted on the Gemot.
Given the tremendous amount of responses to the aforementioned thread post (NOT), I allowed myself to pick Essai, a nice sans-serif font which shall be the one used for the next preview release (if/when I manage to sort out some non-trivial problems with backlog text layout).
Here's a shot of it, just for your continued entertainment:

[edit] Demonbane and more!
Well, thanks to Makoto, we've now got another active translation project! That brings the number up to 8... or maybe there are even more. Should I list any more in the sidebar, guys? I went ahead and added Canvas2, since I had neglected to earlier.
Anyway, the Demonbane project needs somebody to upload and format scripts. Maybe ViruX or Mars? I dunno.
This has been your infrequent status update! Great work, everyone. Moogy (talk) 09:18, 5 March 2008 (PST)
[edit] Merger with Visual-Novels
Yeah, this was kinda unexpected. Anyway, business as usual should continue on the wiki, we'll just list other projects as well. The Ongoing page should probably have two categories - one for on-site stuff, and one just for links to off-site stuff.
This is good for both of us, in that it simplifies information tracking for V-N and increases exposure for us here.
Any comments? Moogy (talk) 16:43, 20 February 2008 (PST)
- What kind of content will V-N bring forth? I know they use a CMS to publish, but the Wiki format is more of a collaborative model rather than a editor/reader one. Also they've got a nifty downloads section that doesn't really fit this pace as well. Are they moving hosting of their stuff here? Coz this place has a few security holes~ :3
- RT 21:50, 20 February 2008 (PST)
- Nah, they're just going to help us with the list of visual novels and bring us more translators/editors/etc. Basically just some free exposure for us. It's a win-win deal imo.
[edit] To-do
- Make a logo involving a loli of some sort (Wong or teru?)
- Translate games (duh)
- Increase exposure
- Low priority: Categorize everything in Special:Uncategorizedpages
